Justice League of America #1 (came out June 17th {was supposed to be June 3rd}) was written and drawn by Hitch and it was good.
The story started at the end (of the story arc) or it was something totally different. Superman gets blown off the exploding Earth, around the Moon he went and, he disappeared into a portal. Meanwhile in Metropolis, Clark and Lois are discussing the etiquette of mail protocols when he saw a hidden message. At the MAW, someone transported the Parasite to an unknown location. The letter Clark had was for Superman and the Infinity Corporation sent it to him. They showed Superman the dead Supermen and another one showed up alive for two seconds. Superman didn’t like his answers and left. Aquaman met with the United Nation about the treaty and it didn’t go so well. Green Lantern, Flash, Wonder Woman and, Batman showed up at Metropolis’ ne clean energy power plant and was attacked by Parasite. They fought Parasite as he swallowed Wonder Woman. Superman showed up and got her out of Parasite’s stomach.
Meanwhile in Atlantis, Aquaman had to talk to the God of War (Ares?). As the Justice League continued to fight, Cyborg appeared and that launch the Flash into terminal velocity. Cyborg and Batman has a plan and Green Lantern and Flash disappeared into an Oan wormhole. Batman and Cyborg’s plan worked and Parasite’s powers are gone. Superman, Batman and, Cyborg boom-tubed to New York City to where Infinity Corporation was supposed to be and it’s gone. As they were about to leave, they saw the Kryptonian God, Rao’s and, his ship. Up next Justice League of America #2 (out 7/8)…
*DCYou interviewed Batman’s creative team (Snyder and Capullo).

Spider-Verse #2 (came out June 10th) has the same creative team and it was good.
So, Norman Osborn caught Spider-Woman (Gwen) unmasked and trying to free Spider-Ham. Gwen masked up, shot webbing onto Osborn’s face and arms and, tries to get Spider-Ham out of bed. Spider-Ham was naked and had to get dressed. Due to waiting, Ozcorp security force stormed the room, Gwen threw Osborn to them and, took Spider-Ham. While under a bypass, three other Spiders found Gwen and Spider-Ham and took them to Spider-Man of India’s safe house. They all discussed their origins but, Spider-Ham jokes around. The Spiders found another Spider-Signature and they went out to find it. They get to a warehouse on the dock and they found mob enforcers, Tombstone and Carnage. The Spiders attack and Spider-Noir jumps in to help. Spider-Noir explains himself to the other Spiders as the Sinister Six (Sandman, Electro, Vulture, Doc Ock, Scorpion and, Kraven) arrive. Up next, Spider-Verse #3 (7/8)…

Spider-Gwen #5 (came out June 10th) has the same creative team and it was good. This issue is the final one for Spider-Gwen due to her world being destroyed before Secret Wars. Check out Secret Wars banner series, Spider-Verse (out now) for more Spider-Gwen and other Spider-People. But don’t worry, Silk is ending soon too for the same reason.
A letter is given to Matt Murdock and in it was tickets to a concert. The band “The Mary Janes” including Gwen were invited as the opening act to Felicia and the Black Cats concert. MJ and the girls were arguing over Felicia’s gesture. Felicia remembers the day her dad died. The Mary Janes’ were in the middle of their set and Felicia jumped in and started her act. Then Matt Murdock’s ninjas started to attack. Gwen left to change into Spider-Woman. As the crowds leave, it’s revealed that Murdock murdered Felicia’s dad. Spider-Woman arrives, knocks out Felicia and then, she confronts Murdock. She defeats the ninjas and leaves Murdock there. Meanwhile at the Stacy house, George starts cleaning up the mess the Vulture created. DeWolff showed up, they talked and, she let George know that she knows that he’s a good cop. To be continued in October? I don’t know if it’s in volume two #1 or in an anthology series.

Silk #5 (came out June 10th) has the same creative team and it was good.
While at her job at The Fact Channel, Cindy continues to look for her family. Usually she does the searching off-the-clock but, since it was a slow news day she used some of her on-the-clock time to do it. JJJ saw what she was doing, she tells him that they’re missing and, JJJ said that he’ll call a contact at the N.Y.P.D. to find some information for her. Also, he didn’t fire her. There was a report of a kidnapping at an apartment and Cindy knows the name. It was Dragonclaw’s apartment and Silk found Dragonclaw in his get-up. They fought a bit and she told him that she’ll help him get his daughter back. Off-panel, Silk called Spider-Man for help. They all knew it’s a trap, they fought the Black Cat’s goons, Silk found Dragonclaw’s daughter and, Silk stayed behind to cover Spider-Man as he got the kid and Dragonclaw out of there. Silk told Spider-Man to come back asap. Black Cat knocked out Silk, something pushed Black Cat out of the warehouse, took Silk and, blew up the warehouse. The Repairman somehow and someway got Silk strapped to a table and, called her Cindy. Up next, Silk #6 (out 7/22)…

All-Star Section 8 #1 (of 6) (came out June 10th) was written by Ennis with art by McCrea and it was okay.
I know of the character, Hitman but, I never read his comics or Section 8’s comics before. This team and characters are new to me and they are just off-beat (More than Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy kind of off-beat. Yes, Drax and Rocket gets drunk but, not plastered and graphically obtuse). This is the point of Section 8 and I get it, not all comics are for the young and kind-hearted. There are still a breed of comic readers that are into the “underground movement” of comics. The first non-superhero graphic novel I’ve read was Robert Crumb’s “Fritz the Cat”. Now, that was mind altering art (and I wasn’t on any drugs). This series is one or two steps before R. Crumb’s work but, the panels of Six-Pack high on alcohol was that trippy.
The story starts with an off-beat introduction of the team then, shifts to the former hero, Six-Pack. His day job is an art dealer, his buddies got the drink order mixed and, the recovering alcoholic reverts into Six-Pack. He seems to be at an alternative bar and he sees Hitman. Six-Pack told Hitman that Section 8 needs to reunite but, most of the team is dead. Hitman told him to look around and find people including the bartender. Six-Pack has himself and six others but, Section 7 doesn’t sound right. So, Six-Pack goes outside and he sees Batman. He tries to his attention but, Batman was more worried about getting money out of an ATM and then, Batman gets a ticket for parking in a no parking zone. Then Batman just leaves Six-Pack hanging. In short, Batman’s a jerk too. Up next, All-Star Section 8 #2 (7/8)…

Earth-2: Society #1 (came out June 10th) was written by Wilson with art by Jimenez and it was good.
After several events (Earth-2: World’s End, New 52: Futures’ End and, Convergence), Earth-2 was lost and this series is about the survivors and how they are recovering. This story goes back-in-forth between planetfall and New Earth-2. Batman is chasing down Terry Sloan in New Gotham and Johnny Sorrow found him. A year ago, a man (I assume Dick Grayson) is on New Earth-2 as the rescue ships crash on the planet and on him. Green Lantern saves some ships including the one that the Huntress, Red Arrow and, Mr. Terrific on board. The team splits up to check for survivors and Mr. Terrific found Dick Grayson (?). Now back to one year later, Batman saves Sloan from Johnny Sorrow but, then escapes from Batman. Up next, Earth-2: Society #2 (7/8)…

Starfire #1 (came out June 10th) was written by Conner and Palmiotti with art by Lupacchino and it was good. Starfire was created by Wolfman and Pérez in 1980. I have to give “props” to to writers Conner and Palmiotti and artist Lupacchino. They made Starfire unique, classy and, exotic without making her a slut like Lobdell did. I hope that Wolfman and Pérez likes this version of their “daughter”, because I like her this way too.
So, Starfire was talking to Sheriff Stella Gomez of the Key West Police Department (KWPD) about looking for a job and a place to stay. Sheriff Gomez wanted to see proof of her abilities and she decided to help Starfire. She took Starfire to a jeweler to check her space gems and got some money out of them. Starfire is still a little naïve but, Stella helped her out with clothing decisions and a place to live. Stella also fed Starfire at a bar. They went to the trailer park and met more people. A hurricane is approaching and something else finds Starfire. Up next, Starfire #2 (out 7/8)…
*DCYou interviews Green Lantern’s creative team (Venditti and Tan).

Bat-Mite #1 (of 6) (came out June 3rd) was written by Jurgens with art by Howell and it was Funny. This series is another six-part limited series and there are two more six-parts and one twelve-part series left to debut in June. Bat-Mite was created by Bob Kane, Bill Finger and, Sheldon Moldoff in 1959.
At court, Bat-Mite was sentenced to exile (away from the 5th Dimension). He was sent to Earth to live out his days. He appeared in Gotham and took Batman’s bat-mobile to chase evil doctors. Bat-Mite sunk the bat-mobile after it flew off the cliff. Batman stopped the doctors, saved the girl and, took her to the hospital in his bat-plane. An evil nurse showed up after Batman left and drugged Bat-Mite. Bat-Mite woke up at the mansion of the Dr. Trauma and was drugged again. He woe up again and saw that the nurse brought him to the dungeon. Bat-Mite was thrown into a cell with Hawkman. Up next, Bat-Mite #2 (out 7/1)…

To whomever reads my Comic Book Reviews,
Due to my budget, some of DC Comics’ New #1’s will be reviewed a month late. With Marvel’s Secret Wars in full-swing (and I’m not getting them all either) and DC Comics putting the majority of their number ones out in one month, it’s a hard decision to make. Thank God that most of the comics I want I put on special order or on subscription. The ones I want but, couldn’t put on hold, I’m getting right away. The others that are on hold will be there until a month from the release date. So, DC Comics’ Constantine: The Hellblazer, Red Hood/Arsenal, Black Canary, Doomed, Harley Quinn/Power Girl, Prez and Robin: Son of Batman #1 and Marvel’s Secret Wars 2099 #2 will be reviewed in July.
But in the meantime, there are some Divergence Previews I could show you. A couple of weeks ago, DC Comics decided to make the sneak peaks digital and available online for free. The new series (besides the on-goings) have the eight-page preludes that may or may not set the tone for the series. So, please continue to enjoy my reviews as normal and enjoy the comics that I did get this week (DC Comics’ All-Star Section 8, Starfire and Earth-2: Society #1 and, Marvel’s Silk and Spider-Gwen #5’s and Spider-Verse #2).
Bizarro #1 (of 6) (came out June 3rd) was written by Corson with art by Duarte and it was Funny. Superman was created by the legendary team of Siegel and Shuster in 1938 and Bizarro was created by Otto Binder and George Papp in 1958. Bizarro is a six-part limited series that will end by November 2015.
Superman is a jerk. Bizarro was being a pest and Superman didn’t want to deal with him. So, he pawned Bizarro on his best pal, Jimmy Olsen. On the road trip to Canada, Bizarro pulled out Colin, his pet “goat eater” (Mexican horror monster). It freaked out Jimmy and he crashed his car. Well, at least they were going through Smallville on the way to Canada. Two mysterious people are following Jimmy and Bizarro. Jimmy and Bizarro goes to “King Tut's” Auto Sales to get their car fixed. Due to low to no sales, “King Tut” prayed to the Egyptian Gods to help but, they were aliens in disguise. Tut has the whole town under his control. Up next, Bizarro #2 (out 7/1)…
